Below you’ll find some products that every new mom (or dad!) needs to have. They’ll make your life easier so you have more time for the fun parts of parenting! Are there other products that you couldn’t live without? Let us know, and don’t forget to SHARE this list with other new parents!
Matimati Baby Bandana Bib Set, 8-Pack Super Absorbent, Soft, & Chic Organic Drool Bibs for Boys & Girls (Arrows & Triangles) – $19.95
What’s so special about some bibs? Glad you asked! The Matimati Baby Bandanas feature snaps so they’ll stay put where they belong — on your baby! — without that itchy, uncomfortable Velcro we’ve all grown to bear. The bibs are 100 percent cotton and fleece, so they’re just as absorbent as you expect, but without the eco-unfriendly plastic.
Munchkin Arm and Hammer Diaper Bag Refills – $8.19
In a perfect world, you’d be walking distance from your well-stocked changing table every time a diaper change needed to happen. Yeah, well, good luck with that. In the meantime, grab some of these odor-fighting diaper bags from Arm and Hammer. They are great for when you’re on the go, but they come in handy at home, too. These bags are infused with baking soda and lavender-scented for natural odor absorption. Use them alone to save space, or pair them with the Arm and Hammer Diaper Bag Dispenser. Adios, icky, lingering smells!
MamaRoo 4 Classic Infant Seat in Grey Natural Body Movements with Bluetooth by 4moms – $224
Unless you want to take the Samantha Jones approach to soothing your cranky baby, the MamaRoo Infant Seat is a lifesaver well worth the investment. The seat features five distinctive movements — mimicking a car ride, the way you move when you comfort your baby, and more. It adjusts to full recline for your baby’s comfort (because, hopefully, they’re going to fall right asleep once you put them in it). Thanks to Bluetooth, you can control the seat using your smartphone; it also features some built-in tunes and an MP3 plug-in. Have you ordered one yet?
Infant Seat and Swing Insert – $29.99
You’ll come to rely on the MamaRoo quickly. Avoid tantrums (probably more from you than your baby) due to laundry days with this spare seat insert. It’s machine washable and reversible, just in case!
Aquaphor Baby Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy Skin Protectant – $12.15
Move over, A&D, there’s a new kid on the block. Well, not technically new, but you know what we mean. Frankly, if this is the first you’re hearing of Aquaphor, we don’t know how you’ve been surviving. It relieves diaper rash in six hours! More than a simple ointment, the healing formula features 41 percent petrolatum, panthenol, and glycerin to moisturize and nourish skin while also allowing oxygen to flow through.
Dr. Brown’s BPA Free 8 Oz 3 Pack Bottles – $16.99
Dr. Brown’s Baby Bottles help prevent bubbles and other feeding problems with their two-piece internal vents, which create airflow for vacuum-free feeding. Air can’t mix in with milk or formula, which means pesky oxidation won’t prevent your baby from getting their vitamins and nutrients. The bottles are BPA-, PVC-, lead-, and phthalate-free, and are available in blue or white, if you want to shake things up a bit.
Babyganics All Purpose Surface Wipes – $14.92
Babies get into everything. Every. Thing. Even before they can walk, they are rolling, crawling, and grabbing at everything they can. That’s why it’s important to keep things tidy. But we know you’d rather spend quality time with your baby than constantly run to the pantry to break out the mop for every minor mess, or rely on less-than-natural cleaning wipes that could potentially harm your baby. Babyganics has you covered. These all-purpose wipes are plant-based, fragrance-free, and non-abrasive. (They won’t hurt your tabletops, either!)
Boogie Wipes Soft Natural Saline Wet Tissues for Baby and Kids – $10.62
Yes, that kind of boogie. Having a sick baby is the worst. They’re so helpless, and they can’t tell you what exactly is making them miserable. Poor things. These Boogie Wipes will help. They help relieve congestion with natural saline that helps not only clean away the snotty boogies, but dissolve them, too. Aloe, chamomile and vitamin E soothe irritated little noses, while the hypoallergenic and alcohol-free formula ensures that you aren’t adding to the baby’s discomfort.
On Becoming Baby Wise – Giving Your Infant the Gift of Nighttime Sleep – $9.99
In this short book (what new moms have time to sit around reading lengthy tomes?), pediatrician Robert Bucknam, along with co-author Gary Ezzo, tell you how to sync your baby’s feeding, waking, and sleeping cycles. Nope, it’s not magic, just science.
Symphony Lactina Double Pumping Kit – $49.95
Symphony’s hospital-grade double-pumping kit, which works with the Medela Symphony Breast Pump, is comfortable and convenient. The kit includes two breast shields, two milk bottles with lids, and more. It’s also dishwasher-safe because convenience and brevity are key for new moms.
Madela Breastmilk Storage Solution – $26.48
While the two storage bottles that come with the Lactina Kit are great, you’re going to need more than that. The Storage Solution set from Medela is a complete system that not only stores your milk, but lets you organize it, too. It includes labeling lids, bags, bottles, and a holder.
Green Sprouts Muslin Burp Cloths made from Organic Cotton – $21.49
Your baby’s face deserves nothing but the best. These organic, cotton burp cloths from green sprouts are absorbent, thick, and oversized to catch and retain all the dribbles and drool. Choose from sets of four in white or assorted colors.
Simple Joys by Carter’s Baby 5-Pack Side-Snap Long-Sleeve Shirt – $19.99
New from Carter’s Amazon-exclusive Simply Joys line, these 100-percent cotton shirts feature side snaps for easy changing. The snaps also are nickel-free and reinforced, so you don’t have to worry about allergic reactions. The thicker, quality materials make these shirts sturdy so they can stand up to the rigors of your baby — and your washing machine!
Mustela Foam Shampoo for Newborns – $12.50
Available for normal and eczema-prone skin, Mustela’s Foam Shampoo is specially formulated to cleanse and treat simultaneously, helping rid your baby of pesky Cradle cap with BHA and salicylic acid. Avocado perseose and climbazole help protect the scalp and prevent recurrence. The hypoallergenic formula is free of parabens, phthalates, and phenoxyethanol, too.
Bamboo Baby Soft Organic Washcloth Towels for Babies – $16.99
These bamboo washcloths are organic and super soft, and they only get softer as you continue to wash them. They’re made from natural bamboo fibers and don’t contain any dyes or artificial chemicals, so your baby’s skin doesn’t get irritated. Plus, they are antibacterial and anti-fungal. Seriously, they do most of the work for you. Fun fact: These washcloths are biodegradable, too!
Philips Avent Soothie Pacifier – $16.99
The Soothie is designed specifically for newborns and babies who don’t yet have teeth. The one-piece construction adheres to the American Academy of Pediatrics, with more than 2,000 hospitals around the country using Soothie as their newborn pacifier of choice.
Mustela PhysiObebe No-Rinse Cleansing Micellar Water – $14.50
We’re sure you’ve seen the micellar water for your face in the beauty or skin-care aisle recently, and this isn’t much different. The no-rinse formula cleanses your baby’s face and body between baths or when you’re on the go and a warm, bubbly bath is just not in the cards. It dissolves dirt by stripping skin of its natural oils. It’s even gentle enough for newborns!
Fridababy Bitty Bundle of Joy Mom and Baby Healthcare and Grooming Gift Kit – $43.25
This starter kit is great for new moms and dads. It includes the booger buster (Windi), the all-natural gas passer (Nail Frida) for your baby’s first mani-pedi, and Fridet, a wee peri bottle for easy cleanup. You’ll definitely want to take this on any trips, and pack it into your hospital bag if you’re still a mom-to-be.
Fridababy NailFrida the SnipperClipper Set – $12.99
The Bitty Bundle of Joy is great, but there’s no use in buying things you don’t need and will just have to put away later. That’s why the SnipperClipper Set is so nice. It’s just the nail clipper and an s-file, both uniquely shaped for tiny nails.
NoseFrida The Snotsucker Nasal Aspirator – $15.99
The name may sound a bit gross, but the Snotsucker is doctor-recommended and is essential for keeping your baby (naturally) snot-free. It comes with 20 disposable filters to prevent any bacterial transfer. It’s also easy to clean and is even dishwasher safe. Bye bye, bulb aspirators.
Babyganics Alcohol-Free Hand Sanitizing Wipes – Mandarin – On-The-Go – $7.56
It’s a scientific fact that babies learn through play. Well, how does one play? With their hands. The flip side of all that beautiful exploration — feeling and touching their way around the world — is that the world is pretty grimy. Babyganics has come to our rescue with these wipes. They are alcohol-free, but they still kill 99.9 percent of germs, all while soothing and nourishing your baby’s hands.
Babyganics Foaming Dish and Bottle Soap – Fragrance Free – $17.97 (3 Pack)
We’ll never cease to be amazed at just how messy such tiny bundles of joy really are — so much cleaning, so many supplies! Babyganics’ foaming dish and bottle soap is sustainable; it’s made with plant-based ingredients, and its foaming formula means less water and no residue. Plus, it’s free of artificial fragrances, dyes, and a bunch of other icky ingredients.
Dr. Brown’s Bottle Brush – $4.99
Whether you’re breast or bottle feeding, a good bottle brush is a necessity. What makes Dr. Brown’s so great is its suction-cup bottom, ensuring that it stays put when you’re not using it. Also, let’s face it: You’re probably exhausted. Sleeplessness plus slippery suds mean you’re more than a little likely to drop this puppy on the floor at some point. Let Dr. Brown knock that likelihood down a few notches. Plus, the combination brushes mean you’re getting a deep, deep clean.
Boon Drying Racks: Boon Lawn Countertop Drying Rack – $17.56 | Boon Stem Drying Rack Accessory – $4.99 | Boon Twig Grass and Lawn Drying Rack Accessory – $4.99
Baby supplies — such as bottles, nipples, pacifiers, and the like — are a bit too small to fit into your existing drying rack nicely, so maintain some “kitchenly” order and pick up a Lawn drying rack and a bottle drying accessory. The above options from Boon are BPA-, Phthalate-, and PVC-free, plus they’ll look great in any kitchen. Win!
Munchkin Arm and Hammer Nursery Fresheners – $6.99
Tiny humans are messy, and sometimes smelly. It obviously doesn’t mean we love or adore them any less; it’s just a fact. But it doesn’t have to be a lingering fact thanks to these nursery fresheners from Arm and Hammer. The mini discs use baking soda for a portable freshener that you can stash around your nursery, leave in your car, or take with you on the go.
My Brest Friend Deluxe Nursing Pillow – $46.95
Available in a bunch of colors and prints, the Deluxe Nursing Pillow will be any breastfeeding mom’s new best friend. It provides support and security for your baby during feedings, and its wraparound design helps secure the pillow to the body so both you and your baby are in the optimal position to prevent aches and pains later. There’s even a pocket for nursing supplies!
Boppy Nursing Pillow and Positioner – $29.99
The Boppy is a time-tested favorite. There are dozens of designs available for the slipcover, but the distinctive shape and plush cushion are the same. It can be used as a nursing pillow, or just to provide your baby with support as he or she moves through different stages of development — from “tummy time” to learning to sit up on their own. Whichever slipcover you get, it’s removable for the machine washing. Easy peasy.
Baby Banana Infant Training Toothbrush and Teether – $7.59
The Baby Banana Training Toothbrush gently massages tiny teeth and gums, helping your baby develop good oral hygiene habits from infancy. The brush is BPA-, latex-, and phthalate-free, and is dishwasher safe. Plus, it’s suitable for your freezer for when that pesky teething starts. Two birds, one stone — you know the saying.
