What is it with orangutans and baby bumps?
We’re not quite sure, but there seems to be a correlation, and an exceptionally cute one at that.
Exhibit A: Kieran Bettany and his wife Kayley took a trip to the Colchester Zoo in England. Kayley, seven months pregnant at the time, caught the attention of an orangutan, who was mesmerized by her baby bump. The great ape couldn’t take its eye off the bare bump, attempting to touch it and kiss it through the glass wall separating the animals from the humans.
“This was a wonderful experience, however upsetting at the same time,” Kieran wrote when he uploaded the video to his YouTube page. “He even had a tear run down his face.”
Exhibit B: Once again, the setting is the Colchester Zoo. As is the case in the first video, the orangutang is fascinated with a woman’s baby bump. In this video, though, the beautiful animal takes a cue from the pregnant woman, kissing her belly each time she rubs it.
Exhibits C, D, and E: Three more precious instances of an orangutan falling in love with a baby bump.
It might be the same orangutan in each video — we’re not 100 percent sure — and all of these occurrences might have taken place at the aforementioned zoo. The specifics don’t really matter, though, do they? All that matters is the special bond between the two species.
Make sure you SHARE this video with your friends, and if you’re currently pregnant, do your very best to spend some time with an orangutan!
